Can you remember what you were doing 10 years ago? Take a moment to simply pause and reflect for a moment…
Did you think you would be doing what you are doing right now 10 years ago?
I certainly didn’t.
10 Years ago, Purple Co was born. And on the 31st July, we celebrated this milestone with a room of people who are passionate about helping make work, work well!
However, 10 years ago this was not the story. 10 year ago, I had left traditional employment feeling less than good about myself, my skills and what I had to offer. After a pretty disastrous attempt to learn how to trade the US stock market, I returned to Consulting so that I could keep putting food on the table.
The difference this time, was for me to only do the work I loved, the way I wanted to do to, with the people I am best able to serve. Within 6 weeks I had a caseload that was too big for me and was able to extend my reach through another Consulting Rehabilitation Counsellor. And so Purple Co was born.
My vision at the time was to ensure that everyone who met us was treated with respect – client’s customers and consultants. It was to ensure that everyone understood that we consider that everyone has the RIGHT to work, and we will do what we can to help make that happen. And I wanted us to be known for excellence in service delivery. These 3 phrases have become the foundations of how we operate as a unique service provider that straddles health care, performance coaching, industrial relations and returning to work.
So, it was with great pride that I hosted a 10year birthday celebration. It was wonderful to have people in the room who have known me before Purple Co was born, and those who are new to the Purple Co experience.
Many thanks to the incredible Dr Jenny Brockis, who nailed her brief providing us with incredible insight of the need for CARE in health care despite all the incredible advances in AI and technology ( although her discussion of the smart toilet is contributing to my disturbed sleep at the moment)
And a very special thank you to Jim. Jim’s willingness to share with us his health journey of the past 10 years, and how Rehabilitation Consultants have helped him take back control of his work his personal life and his family was such an incredible testimony to the work we do. I have been told that during Jim’s story, there were a few tears shed.
I wonder where we will be in 10 years’ time…
With much gratitude
